The late 1990's has witnessed a gradual shift from traditional back-care or 'Orthopaedic' beds towards beds combining support coupled with deep down comfort, in effect beds with a softer, more luxurious feel. The development of pocketed springing systems has provided a major breakthrough for this end of the market and King Koil has been quick to respond with a superb range of Beds offering a variety of different spring counts from 1000-1800. Pocket Springing is much in demand for the luxury end of the market. This is the process whereby individual springs are incased within their own fibretex cloth pocket. These individual pockets are hand nested and secured with linen cord. This allows the spring to move independently, thereby allowing each spring to be depressed individually. The mattress can therefore react to different body weights and sizes preventing roll together and distributing body weight evenly.

The year 2000 has seen King Koil take the concept of Pocketed Spring Mattresses to a new level of development with the introduction of the Posturised Pocketed Sleep System. King Koil has taken their renowned tradition of 'Posturisation' and applied this to Pocketed Springs. The result is truly a unique mattress containing five separate zones of support, designed to cushion and support the entire body, with particular emphasis on the critical centre-third area. The secret is a special springing production system which allows different degrees of heat tempering to be applied to the springs thereby resulting in varying spring tensions for the different zones.
